Performance & Recovery
KPV
Also known as: Lys-Pro-Val, alpha-MSH (11-13)
A three-amino-acid fragment of the natural hormone alpha-MSH, studied in cell and animal models of inflammation, especially in the gut.
Overview
KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, a natural hormone that helps regulate inflammation. Researchers have been interested in whether this small piece keeps the anti-inflammatory activity of the full hormone.
What the research has looked at
Cell and rodent studies reported reduced inflammatory signaling, including in models of intestinal inflammation. Work has also looked at ways to deliver it to the gut.
What we do not know
- There is no strong human clinical evidence.
- How it works and which tissues it reaches is still being studied.
- Safety in people has not been established.
Regulatory context
KPV is not an approved medicine.
